Applied Science Series

This year, SSHS will be hosting its first Applied Science Series to show case student achievements in the STEM field through research projects and presentations.

    There are four events:
  1. The Science Fair - January 23, 2018. **Completed**.
  2. Med-X Speaker Symposium - March 17, 2018 **Completed**.
  3. Astronomy Night — April 16, 2018 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Astronomy Night will let students explore the field of astrophysics through direct viewing of the night sky with high-power telescopes.
  4. STEAM Expo — April 20, 2018. 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. STEAM Expo combines the arts and sciences to highlight the myriad of ways creativity can be applied to STEM.

STEAM Expo
Supplies Needed

The STEM with GEMS club will be making a water bottle rocket to launch at the STEAM Expo. For this project, we are asking for empty two liter bottle donations. If you can donate, please drop off the bottles in Mrs. Hazlewood's room. Additionally, if you would like to participate in building the rocket, please email jpkaur37@gmail.com.

If you would still like to submit a project or volunteer for the STEAM Expo, please fill out one of the following links as soon as possible. The STEAM Expo is going to take place on April 20, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.

Donations of Legos or K'NEX would be appreciated. Please drop off in the office labeled for Mrs. Hazlewood's.

That information will go on our "ACCEPTED" map bulletin board! (community college, trade school, and military count, too!)


  • Simi Valley Youth Employment Services (YES) 31st Annual Job/Career Expo [FREE]
    Saturday, March 24, 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at the Boys & Girls Club, 2850 Lemon Drive, Simi Valley. This free event is provided as a community and business service by the City of Simi Valley and sponsored by the Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley and the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise.

    Young adults who attend the event should be dressed professionally, bring polished resumes, and be prepared to complete employment applications and possible interview, as each year some employers interview and extend offers the day of the event. For more information, visit the YES Webpage.

    Scholarships for Seniors are really starting to roll in! Please keep checking Naviance and the Scholarship page on the College & Career Center Website for up-to-date info. Many of the local scholarships award at least one to each high school in Simi Valley! Your student could be one of them! Scholarship List

    SSHS Performing Arts Boosters The Santa Susana High School Performing Arts Center is selling theatre seat sponsorships for the auditorium. For $150 your name or the name of a loved one will be on a plaque on a seat in the SSHS Performing Arts Center building. For an order form, see Attached Announcements at the bottom of this message.

    There are only 40 seat plaques available. Hurry, before they're gone!

    Student Testing Support

    PTSA would like to support our 11th grade students during state testing, April 16 - 19. Students will be testing 2 hours a day, and we would like to support them with small bottles of water, a fruit, and a granola bar (without nuts) each day of testing.

    Please help us by donating small bottles of water and granola bars (without nuts). We would appreciate donations from all parents. For more information and to donate, please contact Danielle Riggen, 805-587-6545.

    Please join PTSA and help support the programs, events, and activities that SSHS PTSA provides. Membership is only $6 per person. Please visit our website, for more information and to sign up using a credit card. Remember, in order to qualify for Senior Graduate Scholarships, students must be a member for 2 years.

    No Frills Fundraiser
    We need your help with the No Frills Fundraiser, so your students don't have to sell anything! Just make a 100% tax deductible donation of $50 per student (or more) in order to provide all of the programs and services that PTSA makes available to our students throughout the school year.
