Congratulations Santa Susana High School's students who received awards at the California State Thespian Festival!
Rebecca Radvinski, 1st place in Solo Musical and she was asked to perform her piece in front of the entire festival!

Nicole Corvi, Rebecca Radvinski, Natalia Enriquez, and Shayna Apelbaum, 2nd place in Showcase.
Shayna Apelbaum, Rebecca Radvinski, and Chloe Kleiman, 3rd place in Showcase.
Janelle Miller, received a scholarship for becoming a Senior Honor Thespian.
Our Thespian troupe also received 8 superior ratings for our performances.
Congratulations to the Santa Susana High School Vocal Ensemble who performed at Carnegie Hall in New York during Spring Break.

Volunteers Needed |
On Wednesday, April 18, 2018, there will be a meeting for senior parents who wish to volunteer to help with the Senior Picnic Friday, June 1 and/or Senior Breakfast Friday, June 8.
* When: 6:30 PM
* Where: College and Career Center - located in portable in front of the school.
You are welcome to attend the PTSA meeting which begins at 5:30.

Simi Valley Youth Council |
Make a Difference! Applications are now being accepted for the Simi Valley Youth Council.
Simi Valley residents who will be in 7th through 12th grade during the next school year and would like to learn about and become involved in their local City government are invited to apply for the Simi Valley Youth Council. Youth Council members are appointed by the City Council to research and advise the City on youth-related issues. The meetings are held at 5:00 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month during the school year at City Hall.
To apply for Youth Council, submit an online application by visiting Youth Council Application or call Kristin Tignac at 805-583-6766. Applications are due Friday, April 20th.

College Planning [FREE WORKSHOP]
During ACE, the College and Career Center is hosting a variety of college planning workshops for 9th - 11th grade students. Click here for dates & workshop topics.
Seniors
As your acceptances start rolling in, please make sure to let the counselors know! We want to celebrate with you! Additionally, you can fill out a card in the CCC for EACH of your acceptances! That information will go on our "ACCEPTED" map bulletin board! (community college, trade school, and military count, too!)
Scholarships
Please keep checking Naviance and the Scholarship page on the College & Career Center Website for up-to-date info. Many of the local scholarships award at least one to each high school in Simi Valley! Your student could be one of them! Scholarship List

SSHS Performing Arts Boosters |
The Santa Susana High School Performing Arts Center is selling theatre seat sponsorships for the auditorium. For $150 your name or the name of a loved one will be on a plaque on a seat in the SSHS Performing Arts Center building. For an order form, see Attached Announcements at the bottom of this message.
There are only 35 seat plaques available. Hurry, before they're gone!

Student Testing Support
PTSA would like to support our 11th grade students during state testing, April 16 - 19. Students will be testing 2 hours a day, and we would like to support them with small bottles of water, a fruit, and a granola bar (without nuts) each day of testing.
Please help us by donating small bottles of water and granola bars (without nuts). We would appreciate donations from all parents. For more information and to donate, please contact Danielle Riggen, 805-587-6545.
Join PTSA
Please join PTSA and help support the programs, events, and activities that SSHS PTSA provides. Membership is only $6 per person. Please visit our website, for more information and to sign up using a credit card. Remember, in order to qualify for Senior Graduate Scholarships, students must be a member for 2 years.
No Frills Fundraiser
We need your help with the No Frills Fundraiser, so your students don't have to sell anything! Just make a 100% tax deductible donation of $50 per student (or more) in order to provide all of the programs and services that PTSA makes available to our students throughout the school year. Simi Valley Public Library |
Simi Valley Public Library Bookmark Design Contest
As part of "Summer At Your Library," the public is invited to use their imaginations and show their creativity by submitting a design for a new bookmark using one of two themes, "Reading Takes You Everywhere!" or "Happy 5th Anniversary to the Library!"
One winner will be chosen in the following categories: Ages 3-7, 8-11, 12-14, 15+. Winners will have their design produced and given out to the public, beginning in June. Winners will be announced at a special concert June 11th at 6:00 p.m. Designs are due at the Library by May 2nd. No late entries will be accepted. Additional submission forms may be downloaded from the library's website.
Annual Teen Summer Volunteer Fair-- Thursday, April 26, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Simi Valley Public Library - Community Room.
Looking to give back to your community this summer? Not sure which organizations have volunteer opportunities? Start your search at the City of Simi Valley's Second Annual Volunteer Fair at the Simi Valley Public Library. Talk to representatives from 25 local nonprofits about volunteering during the summer and on a regular basis, or on special projects. No reservations required to attend.
