Traffic Enforcement  As you know, the Simi Valley Police Department works closely with our School District in support of one of our shared primary concerns - student safety. An area of great concern is our parking lot and the traffic getting in and out of it. In the morning, student drop-offs are staggered and traffic flows smoothly. However, afternoon pickup is problematic.

Per Simi Valley PD:
  • Red zones will be strictly enforced. We need the ability to keep traffic flowing and have room to get to the school in the case of a police or fire emergency
  • Any car stopped in a location where other cars are stacking up behind it probably needs to move. This problem is most evident on Cochran when cars stop at the front before dismissal in RED zones. Then, cars stack out on to Cochran and line up toward Sequoia. This practice is not permissible.
The school strongly recommends that parents pickup their students in the lower parking lot by the P.A.C. However, if you choose to use the upper lot, please arrive for pickup about 15 minutes after the dismissal bell. Rarely are students at the curb ready to be picked up as soon as the bell rings. Again, please understand that it is illegal to park at the red curb and that the Police may ticket anyone attempting to do so.

Also, please do not stop in the lane closest to Cochran and wait for your child. It is dangerous for your child to navigate his/her way across the parking lot to get to you. Furthermore, cars stopped in the middle of the lane prevent parked cars from pulling out of their parking spaces.

"World's Finest" Chocolates Fundraiser Mock Trial is now selling "World's Finest" Chocolates to help support our team that is competing in the World Championship in New York the week before Thanksgiving.  Last year we won second place, and we are excited to compete again this year.  Each chocolate bar is $1 each and 50% of the proceeds go directly to the Mock Trial club to help pay for flights, hotels, and all necessary items while we are there.  There are five different kinds of chocolate bars: milk chocolate with caramel, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, milk chocolate with almond, and milk chocolate crisp.  If you're interested in buying these chocolates, please stop by room 307 after school to buy a bar from Mrs. Roth.
College Financial Aid
(11th and 12th grades only)
A Cal Grant is money for college you don't have to pay back. California public high schools are required to submit a Cal Grant high school Grade Point Average (GPA) for all graduating seniors, unless the student or parent has opted out of the submission process, no later than October 1. Additionally, juniors will be deemed a Cal Grant applicant unless the pupil is opted out prior to the high school’s submission of GPAs to the Commission. Students who do not opt out will have their GPA submitted to the Commission to be considered for a Cal Grant award. If you do not want your school to report a GPA for a possible Cal Grant, please complete this form and return it to your high school counselor.

By taking this test in your junior year, you have the opportunity to qualify for the very prestigious National Merit Scholarship (NMSQT) program. However. it is also good practice for under classmen, especially sophomores, that would like to prepare early for the SAT exam and NMSQT.

The test will be sold in the Student Store starting on September 25th through October 5th or until sold out. Please bring $26.00 cash or check to the Student Store and receive your official PSAT study guide.
