 Science Fair Judges Wanted  If you are interested in being a volunteer judge for the SSHS Science Fair on January 23, please contact Kai Chorazewicz at kac2234@gmail.com for more information. Judges should have a background in Science or Engineering or a career in one of these disciplines.
 Holiday Singing Grams  The Vocal Music Department is having their annual Holiday Singing Grams Fundraiser. For $5.00 you can give a loved one a personalized video gram sung by Abbe Road A Cappella! If you are interested in purchasing a Singing gram, that you will receive via email, go to the following website and fill out the form titled Holiday Singing Gram. Performing Arts Boosters
 Join Santa Susana Performing Arts Boosters and support the arts at SSHS. Boosters are entitled to Booster only early access to ticket sales and a $5 off discounted ticket for each of our performances. Learn more at SSPAB.
Applied Science Series  This year, SSHS will be hosting its first Applied Science Series to show case student achievements in the STEM field through research projects and presentations.
    There are four events:
  1. The Science Fair - January 23, 2018. The Science Fair is a competitive exhibition of student works and will be part of the Ventura County Science Fair.
  2. Astronomy Night - March 17, 2018. Astronomy Night will let students explore the field of astrophysics through direct viewing of the night sky with high-power telescopes.
  3. Med-X Speaker Symposium - March 17, 2018. The Med-X Speaker Symposium will feature presentations from future innovators who are using their education to change the field of medicine as well as a keynote speaker from the medical profession.
  4. STEAM Expo - April 20, 2018. STEAM Expo combines the arts and sciences to highlight the myriad of ways creativity can be applied to STEM.

 Mock Trial Fundraiser  There are still "World's Finest Chocolate" candy bars available for sale in Room 307. Stop by and buy a candy bar to support Mock Trial at Santa Su
Science Fair  This year the STEAM department will be hosting its second annual Santa Susana Science Fair on January 23-24! All years (freshmen - senior) are welcome to participate. This is an opportunity to showcase your greatest scientific passions, and win awards along the way! Last year, a contestant advanced to the Ventura County level and won $300...this could be you!

If you are interested in participating, fill out this google form: Science Fair Application If you want to participate but don't have a project yet, that's fine! Just fill out the form to show your interest.

All participants are required to attend a mandatory meeting on Friday, December 15th.

 College & Career Center Interested in SAT or ACT prep, but don't have the time after school or on weekends? Solution: one-hour prep on late start Fridays after Winter Break. ACT prep begins Friday 1/19; SAT prep begins Friday 2/23. The classes are offered at a discounted rate of $369 and are run through Tried & True Tutoring on SSHS campus in the College & Career Center. The price includes materials and full-length mock ACT/SAT pre- and post-tests! There are a limited number of scholarships available for students who cannot afford the cost but want to attend. Contact Mrs. Wigdor in the CCC with any questions.
 Art Festival
Senior Project
 Santa Susana will be hosting their first Art Festival February 2, 2018, in the Santa Susana Library. It will be showcasing art, music, and poetry created by the students of Santa Susana High School. We are looking for any Santa Susana High School students that would like to enter their original artwork to be presented in the Art Festival.
    The categories are:
  • Paintings - oil, acrylic, and watercolor
  • Graphics - drawing, pastels, and printmaking
  • Photography
  • Mixed Media and Assemblage
Artwork must be ready to hang, with the entry form attached to the back of the art. It is preferable if the art is matted. The minimum size must be 5"x7" and a maximum size (with mat) of 16"x20". Art work will be accepted from November 14, 2017 to January 19, 2018 in Room 112 during school hours. Students will have the option of selling their artwork. Artwork that is not for sale should be marked NFS on the entry form. All other works will sell for listed price and the proceeds will go to the Art Department of Santa Susana High School.
 Work Permits  Students need to have a minimum GPA of 2.0, maintain a 90% attendance rate, and have six or fewer periods of truancy. More information available on the CCC Work Permit page. Contact Mrs. Wigdor in the College & Career Center with any questions.
 National Honor Society for Dance Food Drive  
  • Non-perishable items to be collected in Ms. Lewis' room, 807.
  • From 11/27 - 12/15.
  • To be delivered to Simi Food Bank.
